Muhammad ibn Muzayn
Muhammad ibn Muzayn was the founder of the Taifa of Silves in the western Algarve. A member of a local Arab family, he took control of Silves, then a rich river port on the Arade, around 1027 and ruled it as an independent principality. His dynasty, the Banu Muzayn, held the city until al-Mutadid of Seville annexed it in 1063.
