Munda people
The Munda are an Adivasi people of eastern India, living mainly in Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal, who speak Mundari, a language of the Austroasiatic family. Traditionally rice farmers organised in villages under hereditary headmen, they resisted landlords and colonial rule, notably in the rising led by Birsa Munda in 1899–1900.
