Murska Sobota
Murska Sobota is the main town of Prekmurje, the region beyond the Mura river in north-eastern Slovenia, which belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1919. On 29 May 1919, amid the turmoil of the Hungarian Soviet Republic, the local politician Vilmos Tkálecz proclaimed the short-lived Mura Republic there. The region passed to the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes later that year.
