Mysore Dasara

Also known as Mysuru Dasara

Mysore Dasara is the ten-day festival of Navaratri and Vijayadashami celebrated at Mysore in Karnataka, India, and the state festival of Karnataka. The Wodeyar kings continued the royal Mahanavami festival of the Vijayanagara Empire, beginning with Raja Wodeyar in 1610, to present themselves as its heirs. Its procession of decorated elephants carrying the image of the goddess Chamundeshwari still draws large crowds.
