Narasimha III (Hoysala)

r. 1263–1292 · 13th century

Narasimha III was king of the Hoysala dynasty who ruled the Karnataka homeland from Dwarasamudra, while his half-brother Ramanatha held the Tamil territories. The division led to rivalry and war between the brothers. His general Somanatha built the Chennakeshava temple at Somanathapura. He was succeeded by his son Veera Ballala III, who reunited the kingdom.
