National Front (Czechoslovakia)

1945–1990 · 20th century

The National Front was the coalition of parties that governed Czechoslovakia from 1945 under the Košice Programme. After the Communist takeover of February 1948 it became an umbrella through which the Communist Party controlled all permitted parties and mass organisations. It lost its role after the Velvet Revolution of 1989 and was dissolved in 1990.
