Nazareth

Nazareth is a city in Lower Galilee in northern Israel, known in Christian tradition as the childhood home of Jesus. Its Basilica of the Annunciation stands where the angel Gabriel is said to have appeared to Mary. The crusaders made it the seat of an archbishop, Frederick II recovered it by treaty in 1229, and today it is the largest Arab city in Israel.
