New Westminster

New Westminster is a city on the Fraser River in British Columbia, Canada. Royal Engineers under Richard Clement Moody founded it in 1859 as the capital of the mainland Colony of British Columbia. It remained capital of the united colony until 1868, when Victoria was chosen instead after a bitter rivalry.
