Nghệ-Tĩnh Soviets
The Nghệ-Tĩnh Soviets were a peasant uprising in the provinces of Nghệ An and Hà Tĩnh in central Vietnam in 1930–1931, organised with the help of the new Indochinese Communist Party during the Depression. Villagers set up local councils, seized land and stopped paying taxes. French forces crushed the movement with aerial bombing, executions and mass arrests, but it became a founding episode of Vietnamese communism.
