Occupation of Japan

Also known as American occupation

The occupation of Japan was the Allied occupation of the country after its surrender in 1945, directed by the United States. It introduced sweeping political, legal and economic reforms, including a new constitution. Accounts of the Empire of Japan credit these institutional reforms with enabling Japan's rapid post-war economic recovery.
