Pembroke, Pembrokeshire
Pembroke is a town in Pembrokeshire, south-west Wales, on a ridge above the Pembroke River. It grew around the castle founded by the Normans in 1093, which became the centre of the earldom and county palatine of Pembroke. Henry VII was born in the castle in 1457, and the town gave its name to the county created by the Laws in Wales Act of 1536.
