Wales
Wales is a country of the United Kingdom on the western side of Great Britain, with its capital at Cardiff. After Roman rule it was divided among Welsh kingdoms such as Gwynedd, Powys and Deheubarth, until Edward I of England conquered the last native principality in 1282–1283; the Laws in Wales Acts of 1535 and 1542 joined it to England. It has had its own devolved parliament since 1999.
