Pentapolis (Cyrenaica)

Also known as Cyrenaican Pentapolis

The Pentapolis was the group of five leading Greek cities of Cyrenaica in eastern Libya: Cyrene, its port Apollonia, Taucheira, Barca or its successor Ptolemais, and Euesperides, later refounded as Berenice. The name was used in Hellenistic and Roman times, and the region as a whole was often called the Pentapolis. Arab forces conquered it in 642–643.
