Person
Phaya Tu Nakpa
Phaya Tu Nakpa was the ruler of Pattani on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula who, according to the Hikayat Patani, converted to Islam after a Muslim from Pasai cured him of an illness, taking the name Sultan Ismail Shah. His conversion, dated by scholars between the mid-15th and early 16th centuries, made Pattani a Malay sultanate. His descendants ruled until the end of the line of queens in the 17th century.
