Person
Pheretime
Pheretime was a queen of Cyrene in the 6th century BCE, wife of Battus III and mother of Arcesilaus III. After her son was murdered at Barca, she asked the Persian satrap of Egypt, Aryandes, for help, and his army took the city around 515 BCE. Herodotus describes the cruel revenge she took on the Barcaeans and her own gruesome death soon afterwards.
