Rajasinha I of Sitawaka
Rajasinha I was king of Sitawaka in Sri Lanka from 1581 to 1593, son of Mayadunne. A renowned soldier, he conquered most of the west and the central highlands, including Kandy, and besieged the Portuguese in Colombo in 1587–1588 without success. His conversion to Shaivism estranged the Buddhist clergy, and his kingdom collapsed soon after his death.
