Ramlat al-Sab'atayn
Ramlat al-Sab'atayn is a sand desert in the interior of Yemen, a south-western arm of the Rub' al Khali, known in antiquity as Sayhad. The ancient kingdoms of Saba, Ma'in, Qataban and Hadramawt grew up in the oases and wadis around its edges, where seasonal floods from the highlands could be used for irrigation, and the incense caravans skirted it.
