Ramla
Ramla is a city in central Israel, founded in the early 8th century by the Umayyad prince Sulayman ibn Abd al-Malik. It became the capital of the province of Palestine under the Umayyads, Abbasids and Fatimids, and its White Mosque and underground cisterns survive. After the First Crusade it was the seat of a lordship of the Kingdom of Jerusalem.
