Palestine
Palestine is a historical region of the southern Levant between the Mediterranean and the Jordan River. Its position made it a corridor for trade and armies. It was conquered by the Sasanian Empire in the early seventh century, taken by the Rashidun Caliphate, governed by the Umayyad Caliphate, and contested between the Ayyubid Empire and the Crusaders.
