Ryangombe
Ryangombe is a legendary hero and spirit at the centre of the kubandwa cult of Rwanda and neighbouring lands, known in Burundi as Kiranga. Initiates were possessed by Ryangombe and his companions in rites that offered protection, healing and fertility, and the cult cut across social groups. Christian missionaries opposed it, and it declined in the twentieth century.
