Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port

Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port is a small town in the French Basque Country, at the foot of the road over the Pyrenees to Roncesvalles. It was the chief town of Lower Navarre, the part of the Kingdom of Navarre north of the mountains, and is a major stop on the French Way of the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela.
