Saint-Paulien
Saint-Paulien is a small town in the Haute-Loire department of south-central France, north of Le Puy-en-Velay. Under Roman rule, as Ruessium, it was the chief town of the Gallic Vellavi and the capital of their civitas. In late antiquity the seat of the bishops moved to Anicium, Le Puy-en-Velay, and Ruessium declined into a village, though Roman remains and inscriptions survive.
