Société Anversoise du Commerce au Congo

1892 · 19th century

The Société Anversoise du Commerce au Congo was an Antwerp company that held a concession for rubber in the Mongala basin of the Congo Free State, in which the state had a large interest. Like ABIR, it extracted rubber through armed agents, quotas and violence, and its territory became notorious for atrocities before the state took control of it.
