Sugu-Okamoto

Also known as Sugu-Okamoto site

Sugu-Okamoto is an archaeological site in Kasuga, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, regarded as the centre of the Yayoi-period state of Na. Excavations since 1899 have found jar burials with Chinese bronze mirrors, bronze weapons and glass ornaments, above all in a rich grave of the 1st century BCE. The finds point to a powerful local elite with links to Han China and are central to studies of early state formation in Japan.
