Tanaro

The Tanaro is a river of Piedmont in north-western Italy, rising in the Ligurian Alps and flowing past Alba, Asti and Alessandria before joining the Po. About 276 km long, it is the main right-bank tributary of the upper Po. Medieval communes such as Asti and Alessandria grew along its valley, which carried routes between the Po plain and Liguria.
