Taputapuatea

Also known as Taputapuatea marae

Taputapuatea is a marae complex at Opoa on the island of Raiatea in French Polynesia, the most important religious centre of eastern Polynesia in the centuries before European contact. Dedicated to the god ʻOro, it drew chiefs and priests from across the Society Islands and beyond, and stones from it were used to found other marae. It was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 2017.
