Telavi
Telavi is a town in eastern Georgia, the main centre of Kakheti, on the slopes above the Alazani valley. It was a seat of the kings of Kakheti-Hereti in the 11th century and later of the Kingdom of Kakheti, and the palace of King Erekle II, built in the 18th century, survives within its walled royal compound. It lies at the heart of Georgia's chief wine region.
