Tequesta
The Tequesta were an Indigenous people of south-eastern Florida, living around Biscayne Bay and the mouth of the Miami River. They fished, hunted and gathered, and were at times tributary to the Calusa. The Spanish set up a short-lived mission among them in 1567, and disease and slave raids led to their disappearance in the 18th century; the Miami Circle is attributed to them.
