The Hill of Devi

1953 · 20th century

The Hill of Devi is a book by the English novelist E. M. Forster, published in 1953. It is built from his letters home from Dewas Senior, which he visited in 1912–1913 and where in 1921 he served as private secretary to Maharaja Tukoji Rao III. The book gives an affectionate and comic picture of court life in a small Indian princely state and sheds light on his novel A Passage to India.
