Hill of Tara

The Hill of Tara is a low ridge in County Meath, Ireland, with prehistoric monuments including a passage tomb and earthworks. In early medieval Ireland it was the symbolic seat of the most prestigious kingship, and the title king of Tara, claimed especially by the Uí Néill, came to mean high king of Ireland. Its monuments include the Mound of the Hostages and the Lia Fáil, the stone of destiny.
