Hill of Uisneach
The Hill of Uisneach is a low hill in County Westmeath, traditionally regarded as the sacred centre of Ireland, where the ancient provinces met. Excavations have found ritual and royal structures from prehistory into the early Middle Ages, and it was associated with the festival of Bealtaine and with the kings of Mide. The Catstone on its slope was held to mark the centre of Ireland.
