Hill of Ward

Also known as Tlachtga

The Hill of Ward, anciently Tlachtga, is a hill near Athboy in County Meath, Ireland, crowned by a ringfort with multiple banks. In early Irish tradition it was the site of a great fire festival at Samhain, and in the Middle Ages it was a place of royal assemblies. Tigernán Ua Ruairc, king of Breifne, was killed there in 1172 during a parley with Hugh de Lacy.
