Tigernán Ua Ruairc
Tigernán Ua Ruairc (died 1172) was king of Breifne for nearly fifty years and one of the most powerful Irish rulers of the 12th century. The abduction of his wife Derbforgaill by Diarmait Mac Murchada in 1152 fed a long feud, and he helped drive Diarmait into exile in 1166, which led to the Anglo-Norman invasion. He was killed in 1172 at a parley with Hugh de Lacy.
