Dublin
Dublin is the capital and largest city of Ireland, at the mouth of the River Liffey on the east coast. Founded as a Norse settlement in the 9th century, it became the centre of a Viking kingdom and, after the Anglo-Norman invasion of 1169–1171, the seat of English government in Ireland. It was the scene of the Easter Rising of 1916 and became the capital of the independent Irish state in 1922.
