Third Anglo-Afghan War

1919 · 20th century

The Third Anglo-Afghan War was a brief conflict in May 1919, when Emir Amanullah Khan of Afghanistan sent troops across the frontier of British India. The British, using aircraft and superior numbers, checked the advance, but a war-weary Britain agreed to the Treaty of Rawalpindi in August 1919, which recognised Afghanistan's full independence in foreign affairs.
