Thorigny Marble

238 · 3rd century

The Thorigny Marble is an inscribed Roman statue base of 238 CE, found at Vieux, ancient Aregenua, in Normandy and now kept at Saint-Lô. It honours Titus Sennius Sollemnis, a leading citizen of the Viducasses, and reproduces letters from Roman governors praising him, making it a valuable source on provincial government and the council of the Three Gauls.
