Timbo
Timbo is a town in the Futa Jallon highlands of central Guinea. In the 18th century it became the capital of the Imamate of Futa Jallon, the seat of the almamy, the elected Muslim ruler, and a centre of Islamic learning. It lost its role after the French took control of Futa Jallon in 1896.
