Timok

The Timok is a river of the eastern Balkans that rises in eastern Serbia and flows north into the Danube, forming part of the border between Serbia and Bulgaria in its lower course. Its valley was settled by Slavs in the 7th century, among them the Timočani, and was contested between the First Bulgarian Empire and the Franks in the early 9th century.
