Timna (Yemen)
Timna was the capital of the ancient kingdom of Qataban in Yemen, at the site now called Hajar Kuhlan in Wadi Bayhan. Lying at the start of the incense caravan route to the north, it had temples, a walled city with gates and a stele inscribed with a market law regulating trade and taxes. It was excavated by the American Foundation for the Study of Man in 1950–51 and was abandoned as Qataban declined in the early centuries CE.
