Tosa Province
Tosa Province was an old province of Japan on the southern, Pacific coast of Shikoku, corresponding to modern Kōchi Prefecture. Ruled by the Chōsokabe clan, who unified it by 1575, it passed after 1600 to Yamauchi Kazutoyo as the Tosa domain. Its samurai, among them Sakamoto Ryōma, played a major part in the Meiji Restoration.
