Treaty Principles Bill
The Treaty Principles Bill was a bill introduced in the New Zealand Parliament in November 2024 by ACT New Zealand to define the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi in law. Critics argued that it would reduce Māori rights under the Treaty, and it provoked one of the largest protest marches in the country's history, the hīkoi to Parliament. It was voted down at its second reading in April 2025.
