Trincomalee

Trincomalee is a port city on the north-east coast of Sri Lanka with one of the largest natural deep-water harbours in the world. It is the site of the ancient Hindu Koneswaram temple. Its harbour was contested by the Portuguese, Dutch, French and British, and it served as an important British naval base until 1957.
