Tuanku Gocah Pahlawan

Tuanku Gocah Pahlawan was the founder of the ruling house of Deli in north-eastern Sumatra. According to Deli tradition he was a commander in the service of Sultan Iskandar Muda of Aceh, who sent him in the 1630s to secure the east coast of Sumatra for Aceh. He settled in Deli, married into the local elite and governed as Aceh's representative, and his descendants became the sultans of Deli.
