Tun Abdul Majid
Tun Abdul Majid was the Bendahara, or chief minister, of the Johor-Riau sultanate who became the first of the hereditary Bendahara rulers of Pahang. Around 1770 the sultan granted him Pahang as a fief, and his descendants governed it from Pekan as Raja Bendahara. After the Johor-Riau realm broke up in the early 19th century they became effectively independent, and in 1882 his descendant Wan Ahmad took the title of sultan.
