Uesugi Harunori, also known as Uesugi Yōzan, was daimyo of the Yonezawa Domain in northern Japan from 1767 to 1785. Facing near bankruptcy, he cut expenses, encouraged sericulture, weaving, lacquer trees and carp ponds, reclaimed land and revived the domain school, the Kōjōkan.
