Umar Marvi

Umar Marvi is a Sindhi folk tale about Marvi, a village girl from the Thar desert who was abducted by Umar, a Soomra king of Umarkot, but refused his wealth and stayed faithful to her people and her betrothed until she was released. Retold by the poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai in his Shah Jo Risalo in the 18th century, it is celebrated in Sindh as a story of love for one's homeland.
