United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia
The United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia was a peacekeeping and administrative mission set up under the Paris Peace Agreements, operating from March 1992 to September 1993 under Yasushi Akashi. With some 22,000 military and civilian personnel it was then the largest United Nations operation, supervising the administration, repatriating refugees and organising the election of May 1993, although the Khmer Rouge refused to disarm.
