Untash-Napirisha

Untash-Napirisha was a king of Elam in the fourteenth century BCE. He built the religious complex of Chogha Zanbil near Susa, centred on a great ziggurat. Accounts of the Elamite Confederation date its construction to around 1340 BCE, notes that it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and treats it as evidence of the state's capacity to mobilise resources.
