Varuna River

The Varuna is a tributary of the Ganges in Uttar Pradesh, India, that joins the larger river at the northern edge of Varanasi. The city's name is commonly explained as the land between the Varuna and the Assi, a stream that marks its southern end, and the two rivers frame the old sacred city along the Ganges.
