VEF
VEF (Valsts Elektrotehniskā Fabrika, State Electrotechnical Factory) was a state-owned electrical manufacturer in Riga, established in 1919. In the 1930s it became known for radios, telephones, light aircraft and, from 1938, the Minox miniature camera. Under Soviet rule it was a major producer of telephone equipment and radios, and it declined after the restoration of independence in 1991.
